Make power-chord changes land together

  1. At 94 BPM, play A5 on beat 1 of each of the first four bars. Release your fretting-hand pressure after each hit for a deliberate gap.
  2. Keep the same attack and release on D5 in bars 5–6 and A5 in bars 7–8. Listen for your chord and the band to land together.
  3. Practice the final four bars separately: E5, D5, A5, E5. Once the changes are clean, add a second hit on beat 3 without speeding up.

Why practice with rock?

Build Your Chops

Rock demands solid technique - fast runs, powerful bends, and confident vibrato. It's where you develop real guitar muscle.

Learn to Solo

The minor pentatonic is your home base, but rock teaches you how to make those five notes sing with feel and attitude.

Play With Power

Rock is about dynamics and energy. Learn to make your guitar scream, whisper, and everything in between.

Practice tips

  • Don't underestimate the major pentatonic for rock - it's not just for country
  • Practice your bends in tune before adding vibrato
  • Dynamics matter even in rock - pull back before the big moments
