Play only the root on the first beat of each change: E (bar 1, Emaj7), E (bar 2, E7), A (bar 2, beat 3, A7), G# (bar 3, G#m7), C# (bar 3, beat 3, C#7), F# (bar 4, F#m7), B (bar 4, beat 3, B7), E (bar 5, Emaj7), E (bar 5, beat 3, E7), A (bar 6, Amaj7), and so on through the form. Keep counting through every bar that holds the same chord; the form resolves back to E.
When each chord arrives, land on its third and hold it for a beat: G# over Emaj7, G# over E7, C# over A7, B over G#m7, E# over C#7, A over F#m7. Then repeat with the seventh (see the table) to hear how the line leads into the next chord.
